Lou Laurence
“CanadaSound is a unique opportunity for Canadians to hear with one another. The landscapes of this vast country are celebrated everywhere from our art to our beer commercials! CanadaSound gives us this special chance to appreciate the soundscapes of this land. We have so much to learn about listening and so much to learn from listening and I’m so excited to be a part of this project which begins and ends with listening together.”
About Lou Laurence:
Lou Laurence is a Montreal-based soul-singing, song-writing siren. She has lived and performed in Toronto, ON; Victoria, BC and Bridgewater, NS. As a solo performer, she accompanies her soulful voice with her custom electric and acoustic baritone ukuleles to create a blues-folk-pop sound. Lou also has a background in teaching language and literature that informs her songwriting and her listening.
She performed on DJ Champion’s 2016 album, Best Seller, and toured the Quebec festival circuit with Champion and his G-Strings last summer. She was featured on Télé-Québec’s Belle et Bum and has collaborated with a number of Montreal artists, musicians, dancers, poets and performers on a variety of projects. She is currently working towards an album of her own compositions and continues to perform in pubs, parks, and performance halls around Montreal.
